This was Antonia's Directorial Debut.

THE STORY OF 'SLEEPING BEAUTY'

This used to be one of the most popular pantomimes in the U.K.

The story originated from Persia, and the legened of a sleeping princess can be found in other cultures, dating back over a thousand years.

The erliest written version is from 14th centuary France and is called 'Perceforest'.

The first pantomime version was at Dury Lane in 1806.

Tchaikovsky wrote his ballet in 1890.

Originally the story had an alternative ending, where the prince and Princess secretly marry, and have to overpower the Prince's mother, a child - eating Ogress.
